Integrating Library Content in Canvas

This is a comprehensive guide to help instructors and librarians provide the best resources for students via Canvas.

EBSCOhost Results List

There are two ways to link to a dynamically generated, up-to-date set of database results: creating a persistent link, and creating an RSS feed of your desired search results. Every database has a slightly different way of doing one or both, but the methods will likely be similar to the EBSCO and Scopus processes listed here.

Copy a Permalink in EBSCO

1. From your search results in EBSCOhost, click on the "Share" button on the right corner of the results.

2. From the drop down menu, find the "Use Permalink" section. Copy this URL.

3. Follow the instructions on the front page of this guide to copy the link into your content. The link should already include the proxy prefix.

Create an RSS feed in EBSCO

An RSS feed will be automatically updated with the latest top results, and can be read in any RSS newsreader (such as Google Reader).  Most databases have an icon similar to this or this   which will let the user create a personalized RSS feed of results. The below method works with EBSCO, but the process is similar across other databases.

1. From your search results in EBSCOhost, click on the "Share" button in the right corner of the results.

2. Click on the RSS icon as shown below.

RSS2

3. A popup menu will appear that allows you to change updates, frequency, and other settings. When you are ready, you can click on "Save Alert" or copy and paste the RSS URL in the menu.
