Discover@MU (see the box below) is a massive and complex database--including citations for articles, dissertations, books, DVDs, government documents and much more—making it an appropriate tool to at least begin virtually any type of research.

Discover @ MU is a simple and fast search engine that helps you discover relevant information on any topic from the MU Libraries' collections. It is the place to start your research in scholarly journals, books, videos, maps, manuscript collections, music scores and more. From your search results, it's one step to the full text of articles or you can see if a book is on the shelf
The library instruction session conducted in conjunction with ELPA orientation can only touch, briefly, on the basic elements of research. As you undertake more advanced research such as that connected with writing your dissertation, it is highly recommended that you talk to a librarian. The contact information for the librarians working with the ELPA Cohort is provided on this guide.
Additionally, the libraries hold a variety of classes and workshops that might be of interest-- including sessions on Zotero, Mendeley, EndNote, copyright, publishing and other topics-- scheduled at different times throughout the academic year. There are a number of recordings and tutorials available online including such subjects as Zotero, EndNote, the literature review, the Library Catalog and many others. Additionally, there are a number of YouTube videos that might prove useful in assisting with your research or demonstrating how to use various tools and resources.
