FOLIO: Sunflower Release Information

This guide provides information on the integrated library system (ILS) FOLIO and integrated products.

Sunflower News

Sunflower was released to the FOLIO Community on May 23, 2025. The University of Missouri has not yet been scheduled for an upgrade.

With the Sunflower release, FOLIO will transition from the platform Okapi to Eureka. Most of the changes are on the back-end, but here are a few changes you will notice on the front-end:

  • Permission sets will be replaced with authorization policies and roles
  • In user record, "User permissions" accordion replaced with "User roles" accordion
  • Because passwords were not migrated to the new authentication platform Keycloak, FOLIO users will need to reset their passwords using the "Reset Password?" link on the FOLIO login before logging into Sunflower using username and password. Users can use the same password that they had for Ramsons. SSO is not affected by this change. You can still log in with SSO even if you have not changed your FOLIO password.
  • New URL for FOLIO login page
  • Idle session timeouts

HIghlighted Enhancements

Bulk Edit

  • Edit all MARC fields in SRS record except the leader, control numbers (999 $f), and 00x fields 
  • Edit instance administrative data and MARC fields at the same time
  • Edit statistical codes in instance records
  • Use "Find" action for partial match (matches still case-sensitive)

Claiming (New App)

  • Enables users to identify ordered materials that have not arrived by their expected dates, and generate files in EDI and/or CSV format to send to vendors to process those claims.

Checkin/Checkout

  • Floating collections now supported

eHoldings

  • Enhancements to the title search within the package search 

Finance

  • Batch allocations via UI or CSV file (current and future fiscal years)

Inventory

  • Number generators for accession numbers, call numbers, and item barcodes MM SIG 8/14/2025
  • Version history for instance, holdings, item and SRS records (only changes made after Sunflower upgrade)
  • Select which call number types are included in a call number browse
  • Update "Set for deletion" flag in instance record
  • "Save & keep editing" for creating new MARC records
  • Multi-select drop-down filters
  • Holdings sorted by location, then call number on instance record

Invoices

  • Version history for invoices and invoice lines (only changes made after Sunflower upgrade)
  • "Save and keep editing" functionality

Lists

  • New record types and fields for Finance, Invoice, and Orders apps

MARC Authority

  • Version history for authority records
  • "Save & keep editing" for creating new authority records
  • Search and browse by authority headings (1xx, 4xx, 5xx)

Receiving

  • Number generators for item barcode, accession number and call number MM SIG 8/14/2025

Orders

  • "Save and keep editing" functionality
  • EDIFACT files no longer automatically deleted after 7 days

Organizations

  • Number generator for vendor code MM SIG 8/14/2025
  • Version history for organization records (only changes made after Sunflower upgrade)
  • "Save and keep editing" functionality
  • Claiming integration 

Requests

  • Filter by retrieval service point

Serials

  • Generate predicted pieces with multiple cycles
  • Ability to delete serial records (must have no publication patterns or generated pieces)

Users

  • Ability to add user pronouns to user record

 

Sunflower Release Training

EBSCOConnect Training (requires logging in with an EBSCOConnect account)

Starting with the Ramsons release, EBSCO will no longer be hosting 90 minute live training. Instead, they will have pre-recorded training sessions and Open Q&A sessions.

Highlighted Known Issues

Inventory

  • Deletion of MARC Instance via API is not synchronized between Inventory and SRS

Lists

  • "Fund - Donor organization" dropdown populated with incorrect data
  • "Edit List" from "Actions": "Export all columns (CSV)" exports only select columns; "Export selected columns (CSV)exports all columns

Users

  • Sorting of loans by call number is case-sensitive
  • For the automated patron block "Maximum number of items charged out", borrowing is blocked but not renewals and requests
