Resource Linking for Librarians: Journal Linking

Guide to best practices for linking in LibGuides, LibAnswers, Blackboard, email, etc.

Create a Link to FindIt@MU

You can create a link to the journal information page in Findit@MU where current coverage data for a specific journal will always be available.

This is preferable because:

  • the Findit@MU page will be the one place to have the most up-to-date access options,
  • it provides multiple access points (where available) so that the user has options if there is a problem with one source
  • has the link to Report Problems in case of access issues

To create the link, use the journal's ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) as the unique identifier.

Use this format to create a durable link:

http://ew3dm6nd8c.search.serialssolutions.com/?V=1.0&N=100&L=EW3DM6ND8C&S=I_M&C={ISSN}

Example:  http://ew3dm6nd8c.search.serialssolutions.com/?V=1.0&N=100&L=EW3DM6ND8C&S=I_M&C=0022-0167

How to Find the ISSN

To find the ISSN for a journal:

  1. Search for the journal title in Find a Specific Journal.
  2. Copy the 8 digit ISSN located at the end of the title.
