Resource Linking for Librarians: Discover@MU/MOBIUS Linking

Guide to best practices for linking in LibGuides, LibAnswers, Blackboard, email, etc.

Discover@MU/EDS/Ebscohost/Folio Linking

  1. When looking at the item record in Discover@MU or a specific Ebscohost database, click the Share icon in the upper right corner of the record.
  2. Select Create Link to get the durable URL.  Example record:
     https://research.ebsco.com/linkprocessor/plink?id=de0a0dae-109d-323e-abfc-a37e911814ba
  3. Copy to clipboard to make a copy of durable link.

  2. Select Share and then Create Link.
  3. Copy the URL.

Ebook Linking

Because many of our ebooks have limited user licenses, I usually will send/paste a URL to the Discover@MU record for the title and provide instructions to click on the Access options link and then select MU online access. Also mention that if the books has limited access it may take several tries before the user can get into the book.

MOBIUS Linking

To link to a specific record in MOBIUS, copy the URL for the page you are viewing.

Example:  https://searchmobius.org/instances/882adfad-aa5d-43b5-b5ab-fa97761ed0d7?option=keyword&query=birds%20of%20the%20world

Worldcat.org

Use the share button below the book jacket to copy the link.

WorldCat.org (archive)

There are several options for providing links to records within Worldcat.org, depending on if you want to link to a specific record, all editions, etc.

For a direct URL to a specific record, use the PermaLink feature located in the upper right of the bibliographic record.  No proxy prefix required as Worldcat.org is a free resource.

Instructions for the other linking options can be found at: http://oclc.org/worldcat-org/linking/how.en.html
