Resource Linking for Librarians: Discover@MU/MOBIUS Linking

Guide to best practices for linking in LibGuides, LibAnswers, Blackboard, email, etc.

the Library Catalog Linking

To link to a specific Folio/EDS record for a book, copy and paste the permulink which if located on the right side of the full book record.  You can also click on the chain link icon on the right side of the search results page to obtain the permulink.

Example:     https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=guest&db=cat09109a&AN=mer.oai.edge.umsystem.folio.ebsco.com.fs00001083.6f9e48e4.20f2.53f4.9538.30f4b1e72ad2&site=eds-live&scope=site&custid=s8436643&&profile=edsfolio&groupid=main&profile=edsfolio

MOBIUS Linking

To link to a specific record in MOBIUS, copy the URL listed in the Permanent Link field located at the bottom of the record.

Example:  http://mobius-encore.lib.umsystem.edu/record=b24618153~S0

Ebook Linking

Because many of our ebooks have limited user licenses, I usually will send/paste a URL to the MERLIN record for the title and provide instructions to click on the MU Online Access link and a note about the limited access and it may take several tries before the user can get into the book.

WorldCat.org

There are several options for providing links to records within Worldcat.org, depending on if you want to link to a specific record, all editions, etc.

For a direct URL to a specific record, use the PermaLink feature located in the upper right of the bibliographic record.  No proxy prefix required as Worldcat.org is a free resource.

Instructions for the other linking options can be found at: http://oclc.org/worldcat-org/linking/how.en.html
