Find Conference Materials

If you cannot find conference materials, you may need to get creative with search terms. Conferences are not always called "conferences." These other terms may be used instead:

  • meeting
  • proceedings
  • symposium / symposia
  • Papers from ...

Limit Search Results

Look around the site or database you are searching. In the toolbar or advanced search page, there is usually an option to limit the results to conference papers. Look for check boxes that say "conference materials" or "conference papers." These are often listed under formats or publication type.

Databases listed in the "Finding Articles" tab are a great place to look for conference materials in food science. If you need to expand your search, try these:

Search for Conference Materials in Scopus

Scopus is a great place to search for conference papers.

  1. Open Scopus: http://proxy.mul.missouri.edu/login?url=http://www.scopus.com
  2. Type in your search terms or a conference name you're interested in.
    1. Tip: Put a conference or organization name in parentheses to search it as an exact phrase, such as "International Society for Optical Engineering". (Otherwise, it will look for International AND Society AND for AND Optical AND Engineering, which would provide less precise results).
  3. On the left-hand toolbar, find the "Document type" limiter.
  4. Select "Conference paper" and click "Limit to."
  5. Click on an item. Conference information will either be at the top or in the title/abstract. The society may also be listed on the left-hand side.
  6. To view the document, click "Full text options." It may be available via the publisher. If not, click "FindIt@MU" to view other access options or request it through Interlibrary Loan (ILL@MU).
