International Student and Scholar Services has written a form letter approved by the MU Libraries.
Please use this form letter when creating the department letter for the scholar.

All visiting scholars must have a valid MU ID card to check out materials from the MU Libraries.

1. Obtain the letter referenced above from one of the following:
   • International Office or Asian Affairs Center (international guests)
   • Your Department Chair’s Office (non-international guests)
2. Obtain an MU ID card at the ID office located in the University Bookstore
3. Take the letter and the MU ID card to the Ellis Checkout & Information Desk to obtain library borrowing privileges.

• Access to:
  • Borrowing Services for Visiting Scholars, including MOBIUS and Interlibrary Loan
  • online journals and ebooks while in the library, but no off-campus access.
  • most, but not all, databases while in the library but no off-campus  access.
• Visiting Scholars may use the guest computers available in Ellis Library.
• Wireless Access
  • Available to members of the eduroam community.
  • Contact the sponsoring department liaison to determine if other options are available.
• Printing
  • https://library.missouri.edu/about/computers/printing/

Visiting Scholars—International

• Go to the International Office website
• Visit the International office in N52 Memorial Union, University of Missouri, Columbia, MO.

Visiting Scholars—Non-International

The library privileges outlined for International Visiting Scholars also apply to all other visiting scholars. It is suggested that departments use the same form letter and follow the same process for all visiting scholars.

Missouri International Training Institute (MITI) Scholars will receive permission through:
