Video Editing Software Options

Adobe Premiere ProAdobe Premiere Pro

Adobe Premiere Pro is one of the industry standards. This timeline-based video editing software can be used to edit clips and add a variety of effects and transitions.  It is available in DoIT computer labs including in the Libraries.

Student licenses for personal computers are available for a discounted price through DoIT.

Staff: you will have to check with DoIT about staff licenses.

 

Camtasia Studio

Screen recording and video editing tool

Suggested Use: A great tool for creating tutorials or walkthroughs. Camtasia combines screen recording, video editing, and interactive tools to help you produce customizable videos.

Tips: Camtasia is available in the DMIL. Camtasia has detailed and very helpful tutorials to help you get started or to demonstrate new features. It is available for a 30 day free trial.

Other Options:

iMovie is a video editing software pre-downloaded on Macs.

Microsoft MovieMaker has a free option available with some limited features

HitFilm Express is a free video editing software.

You could do some level of editing in Panopto, if you had to – but there are very limited editing options there.
