Creative Commons increases "the body of work that is available to the public for free and legal sharing, use, repurposing, and remixing." In other words, these are images that you can use for projects, presentations, etc., often with the only restriction being that you list the creator's name.
The CDC has collected images specifically for use in public health settings. Use the Advanced Search to select Public Domain images and deselect copyright-protected images.
