Primary Sources in African-American History

The Black Abolitionist Digital Archive is a collection of over 800 speeches by some 300 Black abolitionists who were regularly involved in the antislavery movement, and approximately 1,000 editorials from the period.

Provides details of the lives of enslaved Black people prior to 1870, through records on land and property, relief programs, medical care, efforts to locate family members separated by slavery, and educational support kept by the Freedman's Bureau. Includes letters, as well.
