A-Doc Asian American Documentary Network - "A-Doc is a national network that works to increase the visibility and support of Asian Americans in the documentary field. We welcome and include filmmakers who self-identify as Asian American, recognizing that this is a porous, evolving definition."

Black Film Space - "Our mission is to provide skill-enhancing opportunities, community building experiences and knowledge on navigating the film industry for people of African descent. We host events that include film screenings, panels, networking mixers, professional development workshops, skill sharing, and open forums."

Black Public Media - "Black Public Media supports the development of visionary content creators and distributes stories about the global Black experience to inspire a more equitable and inclusive future."

Blue Collar Post Collective - "The Blue Collar Post Collective is an accessible and focused grassroots initiative supporting emerging talent in post production... Our meet-ups and educational events are always free and accessible to all. Over 80% of our revenue supports a program that sends low income post production workers to industry events that would otherwise be out of reach."

How Are You Doing? Mental Health Support for Post Production Pros by BCPC - "A mental and emotional health support community for post production professionals powered by the members of the Blue Collar Post Collective. Post pros have unique challenges in their lives. Here's a more private place to talk about them. How are you doing?"

Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM) - "Brown Girls Doc Mafia is an initiative advocating for over 4,500 women and non-binary people of color working in the documentary film industry around the world... BGDM works year round to enrich our community and advocate on behalf of our members, and to shift the homogenous culture and power of the documentary field. Programming stems from our seven core values: community, visibility, access, sustainability, power, creativity, and growth."

CAAM - "The Center for Asian American Media (CAAM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting stories that convey the richness and diversity of Asian American experiences to the broadest audience possible."

Directors Guild of America (DGA) - "Through the collective voice of more than 19,000 members that the DGA represents, the Guild seeks to protect directorial teams' legal and artistic rights, contend for their creative freedom, and strengthen their ability to develop meaningful and credible careers."

Doculink - "Doculink is a community for documentary filmmakers who share information, leads, ideas, and a commitment to support each other’s growth as nonfiction filmmakers. The Doculink community consists of:

  1. An active email list, which provides a forum for over 3500 subscribers to quickly share information and engage in ongoing discussion about documentary filmmaking.
  2. A website that provides detailed information and resources for documentary filmmakers.
  3. Monthly in Los Angeles which alternate between guest speakers, work-in-progress screenings and social events."

The Future of Film is Female Membership - "The FOFIF is a community for: directors, producers, writers, editors, programmers, distributors, writers, cinema owners, and movie fans. The work that we do to achieve gender equity in the film industry focuses heavily on building community and building audiences around films directed by women and non-binary filmmakers. To further our outreach, we’ve initiated a “membership program” that prioritizes access, conversation, and audience where we can come together and build a more inclusive future."

FWD-Doc - "FWD-Doc seeks to increase the visibility of, support for, and direct access to opportunities, networks, and employment for D/deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse filmmakers. We aim to foster greater inclusion of D/deafness, disability, and neurodiversity within the broader entertainment industry."

Hue You Know - "A community for BIPOC in Media, HUE bolsters diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging. Our mission is to build community, provide mentorship, and foster employment opportunities for BIPOC media professionals."

Independent Film & Television Alliance - "The Independent Film & Television Alliance (IFTA) supports, protects, and advances the global independent film and TV industry... From independent production and distribution companies, to sales agents and financiers, we are the only organization that unites the collective voice of Independents around the world and ensures that they are well represented across all issues that impact the independent business."

Local Zero Heroes - "Local Zero Heroes is a staple networking group for PAs to break in & find PA work of all genres including film, tv, indies, commercials, events, etc. Our main goals are:

  • Exist as a hiring platform for qualified PAs
  • Encourage fair rates
  • Help folks break-in the industry
  • Promote a safe work environment for crew"

National Multicultural Alliance - "An alliance of five distinct national organizations, who, with modest support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), bring the authentic stories and diverse perspectives of America’s multicultural communities to public media and its digital platforms."

Queer Producers Network - "The Queer Producers Network is an open peer-to-peer network for queer producers with a diverse range of experiences and identities."

Society for Cinema and Media Studies - "The Society for Cinema and Media Studies is the leading scholarly organization in the United States dedicated to promoting a broad understanding of film, television, and related media through research and teaching grounded in the contemporary humanities tradition."

Sundance Collab Writer’s Café - "Looking to add a bit of discipline to your writing schedule? Then join us for an hour of dedicated writing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 am (PT) in our online Writers’ Cafe. It's the perfect time to join others working on their projects or simply exercising their creative muscles. We’ll have a writing prompt posted to spark the imagination and the room’s chat function enabled if you want to pose a question, get community feedback, or make new connections. It's free, so there’s no reason not to pull up a chair and join in." Free membership required.

Vision Maker Media - "Vision Maker Media’s mission is empowering and engaging Native people to share stories. We envision a world changed and healed by understanding Native stories and the public conversations they generate. We work with VMM funded producers to develop, produce and distribute programs for all public media. VMM supports training to increase the number of Native Americans and Alaska Natives producing public broadcasting programs."
