Discover@MU General Overview

Scholarly or Peer Reviewed Articles

Scholarly or peer reviewed articles are articles that have been through a significant evaluation process before being published. They differ from articles from popular periodicals because they have specific requirements on publication, they take much longer to write and publish, and typically have a specific format. In order to be chosen for publication, the article is read and evaluated by other experts in the field for accuracy of argument.

These are often a secondary source.

Books in Discover@MU

Discover@MU is the tool MU Libraries uses as a catalog. Just like when we choose to search only for Scholarly Articles, we can toggle a box that allows us to search for only books. Searching for books in Discover@MU allows you to see what materials are housed within Ellis Library, but also books that the library can make available to you through the MU Depositories, or other MU campuses.

To learn how to use Discover@MU to find a book, please watch Discover@MU Overview for general instruction.
