Below are links to commentaries to classical texts. While they used to be very useful for students starting to read Latin and Greek, I am not
sure how useful they are now. For help translating the text, Perseus and the Loebs are probably more useful.
The links go to the commentary on the text.
This means that you will have to search for the the prefatory essays which give the historical context of the work at the beginning of the book.
The links mostly go to e-books at the Internet Archive.
You can to sign-up for a FREE account, to read them.
Perseus also has links to many commentaries but they have arranged them alphabetically by title, which makes it slightly hard to locate.
