Journalism 4952: Fall 2025: Home

Fall 2025 Scenarios

Scenario 1: American Red Cross: Goal: Increase blood donations from college students, 18-24 years old

Scenario 2: Feeding America: Goal: Increase awareness and volunteer signups for campus-based food drives amongst college students, 18-24 years old

Potential Things to Consider:

  • Digital vs. physical marketing
  • Socioeconomic status of student population (do they have food to give?)
  • Perceptions of the efficacy of blood drives and food drives
  • Social media marketing efforts/materials
  • Covid's effect on attitudes toward donating blood (is there a perceived increase in health concern?)
  • Covid's effect on 18-24-year-olds
  • Accessibility to sign-up sheets/forms (how are they making the methods of signing up available?)
  • Political environment and its impact on advocacy/participation in social assistance programs
