Plagiarism Check Service: Instructions for Librarians

Part I:

Plagiarism Check Service requests are routed through LibAnswers. "MU Libraries Theses Plagiarism Check" will appear in the Queue column and the Question will indicate the course code (see the example below). Based on this course code, transfer the ticket to the appropriate subject librarian.

Part II:

The subject librarian must check the student’s proof of enrollment.

To add a new student to the service:

  1. Login to Canvas and select the MU Libraries Theses Plagiarism Check course from the dashboard.

  2. Click on “People” in the menu on the left.

  3. Then select the “+People” button in the upper right corner of the screen.

  4. Type in the student’s email address, make sure the Role is set to “Student,” and then choose “Next” and “Add Users.”

Part III:

Once the student has been added to the course, email them saying that their account was created and that upon accepting the invitation, they will be able to upload their theses for review. Include the URL for the Plagiarism Check Services guide ( which provides instructions on submitting the theses and running the check. Finally, ask them to contact you if they have any questions.
