What is plagiarism?

The term plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Paraphrasing or quoting the work of another person without fully and properly crediting them
  • Collaborating on a project and not giving credit to the other collaborators

Use citations to avoid plagiarism

  • A citation is a way to reference other people’s work in your own work. It shows people exactly where you got your information
  • The basic parts of a citation usually includes the author, title of the work, publisher, and year
  • Be sure to cite the source of the data sets that you use for your projects if you did not collect the data yourself
