Step 1 - Set up Accounts

Before downloading the app, make sure that you have the accounts needed to install and set up the app.

1.  Get a free Adobe ID.  You may have one already, especially if you use Adobe Digital Editions.  If you do not have an Adobe ID, go to http://accounts.adobe.com. Click on "Not a member yet? Get an Adobe ID" and fill out the form to register for a free username/password.

2.  Get a free Ebscohost account, if you do not already have one.  Go to:  http://proxy.mul.missouri.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&profile=ehost&defaultdb=a9h and click on "Sign In" in the upper right corner of the screen.  Click on "Create a new account" and submit the form to register for a username/password.

Step 2 - Download the App

  1. Search for Ebsco eBooks in iTunes or Google Play (within Apps) and download it.
  2. Once installed, tap "Find Books" at the bottom of the screen.
  3. You will be prompted to enter your Adobe ID.  You need to make sure that your device is authorized to this ID, so go to the Info tab and verify that it displays your Adobe ID in the "Authorization" section.
  4. Select United States for Country and Missouri for State.
  5. A list of libraries will display.  Page through to Univ of Missouri-Columbia (around page 15 of results) and select it.
  6. You will need to authenticate with your Ebscohost username and password to download a book.

Notes:

  • You can use your Adobe ID and your Ebscohost username and password across multiple devices.
  • The order of instructions might vary depending on device/operating system.

Step 3 - Download an ebook

Click on Find Books at the bottom of the screen.

  • You can enter a keyword, author, title or subject in the search box to search across the collection.
  • You can tap on a category within the Browse By Category section to see titles available in different subject/genre categories.

Once you find an ebook of interest, click on Download to download it directly to your device.  Once downloaded, it should open automatically.
