Completed Projects

  • A new projector has been installed in Room 213. March, 2015
  • Relocated the printer in 3rd floor lobby to 4th floor south landing because of ADA concerns. March, 2015
  • Campus dining updated the fixtures in the Bookmark Café. December, 2014
  • The southeast area of the first floor has been designated for prayer/meditation for students. January, 2015
  • The Nook in 4th floor east has been completed. December, 2014
  • Room 156 is now a quiet study space. The room was painted and pictures were hung on the wall to help contain noise.
  • Installed 8 iMac computers in 4D11. September, 2014
  • Made North Security desk space smaller. August, 2014
  • Put cushioned chairs purchased from surplus in the quiet study are outside of 4C51. August, 2015
  • Moved copy machine in the Colonnade to behind the vending machine at first floor entrance. August, 2014
  • Installed a unisex restroom on 2nd floor west. July, 2014
  • Room 2D62 set up as a lactation room. July, 2014
  • Renovated room 205 as a breakroom for Jesse Hall use.
  • Jesse hall departments moved in. July, 2014
  • Red Microform boxes relocated to Law during Jesse Hall relocation June, 2014
  • Moved the painting donated by John Wesselmann from CPRR to the wall outside of East Reference. June, 2014
  • Phase I and II of the replacement of carpet in the reference department have been completed. Phase I was carpeting the common area of East Reference. Phase II involved replacing the carpet in the offices in East Reference.  Phase III will include the offices and workroom in West Reference. Phase III has been indefinitely postponed
  • The DVDs have been moved from CPRR to Information Commons 2. They are located in the south end of the reference stacks.
  • The newspapers have been removed from CPRR. They are now located in the west side of the Colonnade, near the new books shelf.
  • New countertops for the 2nd floor staff restrooms.
  • The west stairwell has been painted.
  • The wall in front of 4D11 and 4D12 has been removed. The area will hold tables and chairs.
  • 4D11 has been renovated and is now a computer lab. This room may be reserved by library staff.
  • Some of the square stools in Information Commons 1 have new vinyl tops to replace the old fabric.
  • 4D12 has been renovated. The door will be removed and the room will be filled with a variety of desks and soft seating. This will be a quiet area.
  • Repairs made in Special Collections. January, 2014
  • Cleaned overhead heating vents to remove dust build-up. January, 2014
  • Added more staff break room seating outside of the south elevators on the ground floor. November, 2013
  • Ground floor restrooms have been painted and renovated. The doors were stained.
  • The Martin Luther King replica has been housed in the Richard Wallace atrium.
  • The new Information Commons 2 is up and ready. There are about 40 thin clients, 22 macs, 1 thin client for the consultant, and 4 black and white printers (labeled printers 3A-3D). Soft seating, tables for group study and a color plotter are also in the room.
  • CPRR (room 114) (which had been temporarily storing DOIT computers while Pershing was removated) still has 24 computers. This is a quiet area, which had been requested many times by students.
  • A chair rail has been added to the Bookmark Cafe seating area next to the Security Office to prevent damage to the walls from the chairs
  • The men's restroom on the ground floor has been renovated. The countertop and faucets have been replaced, and painting is done. An An automatic door makes it easier for students with disabilities.
  • The first floor women's restroom has been renovated. An automatic door makes it easier for students with disabilities. Thanks for your patience!
  • Removed Room 4C11 to create study space.
  • Placed no smoking signs at east & west entrances.  September, 2013
  • Unused shelves have been removed from the wall near Digiprint. The wall has been painted, and one section of shelving remains for reshelving purposes.
  • The electronic lock on the north doors has been repaired.
  • Lockers have been removed from the first floor women's restroom. Along with surplus lockers from other libraries on campus, these have been installed in 2 East and 3 East.
  • The government documents microfiche, previously located in the locked surplus room on the ground floor, has been moved to 1 East. All microfiche on the first floor has been moved to that area. There is a reader and scanner next to the windows.
  • Surplus shelving stored in the stairways has been removed.
  • Data on directional questions were collected during the month of March 2011, from various access points. These included Circulation, Reserve, North Security Desk, West Security Desk and the Reference Desk. These data will help assess the need for directional signage.
  • An inventory of all signs in Ellis has been completed. This inventory will help in assessing the need for new and/or replacement signs in the building.
  • Heaters in CPRR have been painted.
  • The Bookmark Cafe freezer/refrigerators in the ground floor hallway have been moved.
  • Four whiteboards have been added to the study rooms.
  • Study carrels near the 4th floor men's restroom have been moved to the 2nd and 3rd floors to fill some gaps.
  • Eight computer stations have been added to the Information Commons.
  • Four study tables have been added to the Information Commons.
  • Several coffee tables have been added to CPRR.
  • Microfilm reader removed from CPRR, better tables and lamps added.
  • Two additional study tables and cushioned seating added to CPRR.
  • Tables and chairs added to the small open rooms in 202.
  • Replaced computer table in Reference workroom.
  • Study tables and cushioned seating added to 3rd floor east.
  • Office supply trays, paper towels, tissues and surface cleaner has been added to all conference rooms.
  • The marble countertop and desk at the entrance to CPRR has been removed. 
  • To create more student study space, the short shelf range located at the south end of the reference books has been removed.
  • Two ranges of government documents shelves have been removed from 1 Central to make room for more student study areas.
  • The scanners located at the south side of the DOIT computers have been moved next to the KIC scanner.
  • Tables for scanner/digitizer equipment in Government Documents were replaced by more appropriate tables.  The tables that were replaced now provide a matching set of four in the south side of OASys.
  • Adaptive Computing equipment moved from OASys to Documents. The adjustable table (which was broken) has been replaced.
  • The barrier inside the west entrance has been removed.
  • A small ramp has been added to the bottom door frame into Government Documents to make it easier for students with disabilities to enter the area.
  • Several chairs in the Information Commons have been repaired, each with a new black leather base.
  • Three ranges of shelving were removed from in front of the Government Documents office for user space. Chairs to fill in the vacated space came from the south end of CPRR.
  • Six microfiche cabinets near the colonnade have been moved to the east side of Government Documents.
  • Chairs from the south end of CPRR were used for Documents seating and filling in gaps in the Information Commons.
  • Thirty-one surplus chairs were used as replacements for CPRR and three black chairs were added to the OASys.
  • A new brochure rack has been added to allow for vertical file type items to be offered to the public.
  • Two cherry tables were moved from the north side of CPRR to the Information Commons.
  • Cushioned chairs (some with writing tables) were moved from the Information Commons to CPRR to expand casual seating and ease pressure in the Commons.
  • Tables were switched in the Information Commons for function and aesthetics, including adding tables to the inner core for more computers.
  • Electrical outlet near the fire extinguisher has been capped.
  • Small square tables and one round table from surplus have been moved to Government Documents.
  • Orange tables have been moved from CPRR to the glass alcoves in the Information Commons.
  • Whiteboards used as signs in 201 and 202 have been moved to study rooms. New signs indicating quiet areas have been created.
