By using this extension your browser may send the URL of pages you are currently visiting to MERLIN catalog server. Such information is sent only if you are actively using the extension; it is never sent automatically. If you wish to avoid this you must turn off the referrer URL by setting network.http.sendRefererHeader to 0 in your Firefox preferences (note that this may cause some web sites that require referer information to not work correctly).

  • Embedded Links
    • Look for when you are at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Google Books, the New York Times Book Review, and many other sites.

LibX Plugin for Searching Library Resources

  • Click on the MU icon to the right of the address bar.

  • Enter search words in the box in the LibX toolbar
  • Click on the MERLIN Catalog link to display additional search options.



  • Select the database/catalog you wish to search.
    • The MERLIN catalog is the default, but you can switch to Discover@MU, FindIt@MU or Google Scholar.
    • You can search by multiple terms in different fields (author, title, ISBN/ISSN, etc.)
  • The fields searched changes based on which database is being searched.



  • Scroll down the menu to see more options.
