The definition of folklore given by the dictionary is, "the expressive body of culture shared by a particular group of people; it encompasses the traditions common to that culture, subculture or group." As many folklorists know, there is no "one" definition for the term folklore. It is an umbrella term for many of the different categories that fall below it.
This class focuses on the ways in which rumor, legend, and conspiracy theories make up some of the broad categories the term covers. Whether you are looking to start your research, trying to find accurate sources to search your topic, or are just browsing the different virtual archives offered, this course guide should help to answer any questions you may have.
