New EBSCO User Interface

On May 19th, 2025, Discover@MU, Publication Finder, and EBSCOhost databases introduced a new interface with a sleek, modern look and feel.  This new EBSCO design features enhanced accessibility and more intuitive workflows.

My Library Account

What used to be called My Library Account in the Classic Interface has been rebranded MyEBSCO.  When you log in using your Mizzou credentials, you will be logged into MyEBSCO automatically. The functional pieces of your library account have transferred to My dashboard.  The dashboard is collapsed by default.  You will need to click the down arrow next to the title to see the contents.  This is where you will go to access your folders (now called Projects), renew books (Holds & checkouts), view your saved items, and access search and journal alerts you have enabled.

To renew your books, choose Holds & checkouts from the dashboard and click the Checkouts tab.

Natural Language Search

One of the new things you might notice is the ability to enable EBSCO AI’s Natural Language Search.  This allows users to make queries using everyday language rather than relying on complex search strings that use keywords and Boolean operators.  This is more aligned with how users utilize Google, Siri, or Alexa.  An example would be "How do video games affect mental health".  Try it out and let us know what you think!

Citations in Scopus

You might notice a button that indicates a number of citations in Scopus.  Click on the button to go to a list of publications that have cited the article.  Note that if you are off campus and not on the VPN, you may need to Sign In to Scopus.  Do this by clicking the Sign In button and choosing Sign in via your organization.  Type in University of Missouri  and choose "University of Missouri System (MU Health Care)" from the dropdown menu.

Indexes and Thesauruses (now Subjects authority)

If you are using a database that has a specialized index or thesaurus, such as PsycInfo or Atla, the location has moved.  To access them, you will click Subjects authority on the left hand menu.  This will bring up a search bar where you can enter your terms, then refine them using options below the bar.
