Library Guide to Copyright for MU Educators and Students

The MU Libraries expect that all members of the University community respect the rights of ownership of intellectual property by adhering to the United States Copyright Law.  The principle of fair use, as set forth in the copyright act, provides essential limitations to the exclusive rights of copyright owners that support the University Libraries mission of supporting teaching, research, service and economic development programs.  In an effort to balance copyright law with fair use principles, the University Libraries are committed to providing tools and resources to the University community to assist decision-making in this complex environment.

For more information about the MU Libraries application of Copyright Law, including Fair Use, please visit our LibGuide on Copyright or consult with your subject librarian.  For more information about the complete Copyright Law, visit the U.S. Copyright Office page.

NOTE: In the event of copyright infringement found by the University Libraries, any information access to specific material will be removed from an electric reserves account.
