Ellis Library's Juvenile Collection

The Juvenile Collection in Ellis Library is comprised of over 15,000 volumes covering a wide range of disciplines and subjects.  Arrangement is based on the Library of Congress classification scheme that is used with most other works within the library.  Access to the collection is possible via MERLIN, the University's online catalog.  However, this collection is shelved separately from standard library materials, and is housed in 3 West Stacks by the location symbol JUVENILE or LIBS-J (Library Science Juvenile collection).

Acquisition of new titles is selective, usually limited to award-winning works listed in the Bowker Annual, a library and book trade almanac.  Still, an effort is made to purchase books that support different University curricula, particularly in the College of Education.

The source guides listed on this page provide a basic approach to Children's Literature with an emphasis on book selection and school librarianship. Click on the links to view a book's MERLIN record.
