Strategies

  1. A good place to start is by looking at our local talent pipelines:

  2. Identify potential candidates by searching resumes on LinkedIn or Google for mentions of membership in  URM organizations or recipients of minority awards;

    • Sample Google search targeting CVs on LinkedIn: diabetes minority award site:linkedin.com

    • Append this to a query to target online CV's in Google Searches: NIH minority fellowship cv file:pdf

      • …then use CTRL-F to find one or more of your search words in the CV

        •  e.g. CTRL-F minority

  3. Look for resumes that mention membership in recognized organizations, including:

  4. Some specialty societies have affinity groups, such as the American Medical Associations Women Physicians Section or an organization wide diversity initiative, such as the American College of Radiology Commission for Women and Diversity. Consider reaching out to leaders in those groups for referrals.  Some may have a Facebook group where you can post the job.    If you need help identifying possible affinity groups, contact us.

  5. When searching social sites, pay attention to hashtags.  These can be used to search Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or other sites to find affinity groups.  Searching with the full string, e.g. #Minoritiesinmedicine.  If available, use filters to narrow to groups.

    Examples of useful hashtags are:

    #Blackmeninmedicine

    #Blackwomeninmedicine
