What is Simmons Insights and how do I use it?

You can perform several different searches within Simmons Insights, such as cross tabulations, quick reports, and brand catalysts reports. You may choose to search national consumer insight studies both for adults and other segmentations as well as Simmons connect which has an emphasis on digital behaviors. It can be used in a multitude of ways: from analyzing statistical data for business ventures to marketing and advertising use, etc. The following guides will explain the purpose and usage of these various reports while demonstrating other features of this platform.

Creating a data set:

Decide the subject to search: 

  • As a subject is typed, suggested topics will appear in the dropdown menu.
  • After generating the data as needed, there are several options available for sorting and viewing.
    • Some examples include age, race, gender, etc.
    • Crosstab charts can have categories filtered such as sample sizes, index, and vertical and horizontal percentages.
    • Search terms can be edited by selecting the term to edit under Grid, and then clicking the edit button that looks like a pencil and paper. This will reopen the search bar with the terms filled in. Search terms may be deleted when selected by clicking on the trash can.
  • Account cloud storage is offered, but it is not accessible as currently individual accounts are not created.
  • Exporting to Excel will allow for easier reading and saving. (To export into Excel, simply click “Export” on the left side of the screen.) Once exporting into Excel, the file can be shared with others.
  • The “Sharing data” is a feature not yet implemented.
