How and when to use Interlibrary Loan

Journal Article
If you need an article that is not available either online or in paper format in the Library, request that the Library get you a copy of the article through Interlibrary Loan.  There is no charge for this service. The link to Interlibrary Loan can be reached from the Library Home page, under QUICK LINKS /  LOGIN TO  ILL@MU (on the right), or you can bookmark this link.

Book, Dissertation, or Book Chapter
If the library does not own a book, see if it is available at another Missouri library (Mobius catalog). If the book is available, request it using the REQUEST link. Books usually come in 2 to 3 working days. (There is no charge for this service). See the video instructions

If the book is not available from a Mobius Library, request the book from ILL@MU.

When you look for a book in Mobius, you will often find that an electronic copy is available an another library. Unfortunately, YOU CANNOT ACCESS the electronic copy.  Publishers restrict the usage of electronic books to the library which has purchased them.  If this happens, use ILL@MU to request a copy.
