Finding Images in Books

Books that are at least 50% images are tagged with the sub-heading "pictorial works".  Search this phrase with any topic to find such books. Since the system is not searching the full text (so no captions), use broader terminology, e.g. "pictorial works" Missouri.

Books with any amount of illustrations should have the word "illustrations" in the description of the book. Just include this word in a search on your topic. Some will have a list of illustrations near the table of contents. Otherwise, you'll need to flip through the pages to see if there is anything relevant to your topic.

When searching full-text collections like the Hathi Trust Digital Library, you can look for the words illustrations or pictorial in the catalog description of the book and combine that with a full-text search for something more specific.
