Registering To Vote

Acceptable ID for voting in Missouri includes:

  • Missouri issued Driver license that is not expired
  • Missouri issued Nondriver license that is not expired or does not have an expiration date. To get a Missouri Nondriver license, which should be offered free for use as a voter ID, take this documentation to the nearest Missouri Department of Revenue office - in Columbia, there's one at 403 Vandiver Dr. (map) and is open 8-5 M-F, and one at 1101 Grindstone Parkway (map), open M-F 8:30-5:30.
  • U.S. Passport that is not expired
  • Military ID that is not expired or does not have an expiration date
  • Any other ID you used in a past Missouri election; you must sign an affidavit (a statement confirming your identity)
  • An ID listed under Option 2 on the Missouri Secretary of State's Acceptable ID list, plus a signed affidavit (statement confirming your identity)

Voter ID Assistance

The Secretary of State will assist you getting a valid Missouri nondrivers license and cover the cost of any documents that are required to get the ID.

Requirements for voters who registered by post card and have not previously voted:

  • A copy of a current and valid photo identification; or
  • If you do not have a photo ID, a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or government document that shows your name and address.

Know Your Polling Place

It's easy to look up your polling place once you are registered in Boone County. You will need to vote there, or else at the County Clerk's office itself (801 E Walnut, room 236) on Election Day.
