Journalism Library Call Numbers

The Journalism Library follows the LC or Library of Congress call number system.  Most of our book call numbers begin with Jour.  We also have different collections that have different letters or descriptions.

Jack & Dorothy Fields Collection that have Jour-F which are shelved downstairs on the left on the white shelves.

Betty & Angus McDougall Photojournalism Collection that have Jour-MC above the call# and are shelved downstairs to the right on the white shelves.

Pictures of the Year International have a POYI label next to the call #. Shelved upstairs after current periodical shelves.

Weinberg collection is a collection of Journalism Fiction books that are at the end of the compact shelving and the call number is Weinberg then the LC call number.

Reserve books are kept behind the front desk on the back wall on the red shelves.  These are for class reserve and will have a "Reserve" sticker on the spine of the book.

The photography books that are on reserve DO NOT LEAVE the library.

Bound issues of Life magazine are available on the main floor by the printers. We own all issues of Life. They may not leave the library without approval from a full time staff member.

Reference books are located on the shelves next to the scanner. These books are library use only.  These have the call # Jour-R.

Oversize books are on the orange shelves across from the compact shelving. These books check out like normal books.
